Pro*Doc Communication and Health

Center for Marketing and Consumer Health
The Center is currently researching on four main fields:
- The effectiveness of tailored promotional messages in the area of nutrition, obesity, organ donation and medication management
- The impact of low literacy on consumer ability to navigate a highly literate marketplace with particular attention to medical products and services and effective communication strategies to support these at-risk consumers
- The measurement and application of consumer quality-of-life
- Challenging the current cunceptualisation marketing as an exchange process with an alternative view of marketing as directed change, particualrly as this relates to social welfare and economic development.
The Department has been a partner in several joint initiatives with the Health Communication Laboratory (HCC) at the Università della Svizzera Italiana, in order to integrate USI's strength in the human sciences and qualitative research and VT's strength in social science and empirical research methods.
FACULTY: David Brinberg, Julie Ozanne, Joseph Sirgy, Kent Nakamoto.
The Center for Marketing and Consumer Health belongs to the Virginia Tech Marketing Department.
